the city of carmona
A city located just 20 minutes from Seville. Carmona is the reflection of the history of Andalusia. Throughout history, many cultures have left their mark on this city. For more than half a million years, human groups have settled in the vicinity of Carmona and during the Copper Age it was when the inhabitants occupied the highest areas of the plateau and its periphery with circular huts excavated in the natural rock. Tartessian Carmona, 1st millennium BC, will be one of the most flourishing stages of the city. The arrival of Orientals, around the 8th century BC, caused profound transformations in the indigenous city. The city must have become an important Carthaginian enclave, as evidenced by the defensive complex of the Puerta de Sevilla. Rome will adapt the old city to the new urban concepts. During the Middle Ages, Qarmuna follows the rhythm of the history of Al-Andalus. In modern times, the historic suburb expands, convents, palaces and the rest of the civil architecture buildings are built.
